Term | Definition |
C sizes | ISO size range, mainly for envelopes. Measured in millimeters. See our envelope size guide for details. |
Cyan | One of the four process colours. Also known as process cyan |
Carbonless paper (NCR) | Specially coated paper which is able to transfer images from the top sheet onto the sheets below from the pressure of writing or typing. |
Cast coated paper | Very high gloss coated paper or board. Often used for folders. |
CMYK | The abbreviation for cyan, magenta, yellow and black. The four process colour's used in full colour printing. |
Coated paper | Term used for coated or gloss paper. Often called art paper. |
Collate | To arrange printed sheets in a particular order. |
Colour separation | A technique used to separate and image into CMYK colour's ready for full colour printing. |
Comb binding | A method of binding a stack of sheets together. Holes are punched along the edge of the sheet into which the teeth of a plastic come are inserted. |
Contrast | The amount of tone in an image from highlight to shadow. |
Cover | Outer sheet of a booklet, magazine ect. |
Crop marks | Lines on a printed sheet which indicate where the sheet is to be cut. Also called corner marks. |
CTP | Computer to plate. Process of creating a printing plate directly from a digital file. |
Cut sizes | Standard paper sizes such as A4 and A3 which are used with office printers, photocopiers etc, and small offset presses. |
